Want to know what sparked a great fire under my buttocks to make my second business profitable? My daughter.
I burned the candle at both ends for years after starting a business after my kid was born in a desperate bid to attain that idyllic stay-at-home mom lifestyle (that never happened).
I became dissatisfied with myself. I finally gave up, but I was never cut out to run a profitable firm to begin with.
Maybe I was meant to be an office worker for the rest of my life.
And it felt good—so good—for a while to just live that basic life where I worked in the office and picked up my son, Blue, after school.
But, after having my daughter a few years later, I was hit by a tremendous desire to make a business succeed, finally.
I was sick of going to work, reporting to a grumpy, cruel supervisor, and pretending that I cared about the silly workplace politics (when I just wanted to escape every second).
But, as humans, we all know that severe agony is required to effect real change. And having a second child was just what I needed to shake me out of my rut.
What motivates you to start your own business?
